Chad Simpson Takes 2008 WDRL Points Championship!

(St. Louis, MO - October 7th, 2008) -- Chad Simpson hit Davenport Speedway in Davenport, IA knowing it was a close battle for the WDRL title with John Kaanta. Simpson trailed Kaanta by a single point going into the event, this meant who ever had the better run at nights end would take the WDRL championship. Simpson would need to do everything he could to gain valuable points on Kaanta for the championship.

Darren Miller led the field to the drop of the $10,000 to win event. Mars held the gap through the majority of the race and would pounce on the leader at lap twenty-three. They would battle hard for several laps but in the end Mars would hold the top spot and hold on for the $10,000 paycheck.

At the same time Chad Simpson would find himself door to door with John Kaanta who was a hard charger from his eleventh starting position for a very solid top ten and the championship. They battled hard all the way to the end, Simpson knew Kaanta was better off turn four and he needed to find a groove off the final corner. Simpson found himself searching during the closing laps while Kaanta peeked his nose in the fight waiting for a slip up. However, that got his nerves moving and Simpson would find a groove and would get a great run off turn four on the final lap and hold the sixth place spot from Kaanta in a nail biting finish.

Chad Simpson would take the 2008 WDRL Championship and cap off a 2008 great season. The WDRL champion and the top 10 in points will be honored during the 2008 WDRL Champions Banquet on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008. The celebration will take place in Tama, Iowa, at Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel (www.meskwaki.com.)
