Chad Simpson Wins WDRL 4th of July Event at Clay County Speedway Finds Himself 2nd in WDRL Points

Written By: Walters Web Design

(St. Louis, MO - July 18th, 2008) -- Chad Simpson dominated the 4th of July WDRL event at Clay County Speedway in Spencer, IA. Chad was 2nd in the qualifying race and then ran 2nd in the 6 lap dash. This put Chad on the outside pole for the feature event which is right where he wanted to be as he planned to run the top side of the track all night long. Out of turn two Chad took the lead and ran with it. It wasn't at all easy for Simpson as the event had many caution flags which kept the field of drivers very close but that didn't stop Chad from leading all fifty laps to bring home a victory.

After the WDRL race in Spencer, IA the team currently holds 2nd place in WDRL points. Simpson has followed leader John Kaanta for the past few weeks and looked to grab the points lead at this event. Simpson did all he could to pick up a few points but Kaanta did the same and ran 2nd to Simpson. Simpson will return to the WDRL circuit on July 21st at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Albion, NE once again trailing the WDRL points leader John Kaanta. However, this time by only 2 points. Simpson has not been to this track since 2006 for the WDRL event where he brought home an 11th place finish.

Following the WDRL in Spencer Chad Simpson Racing hit the road for the World of Outlaws Gopher 50 hosted at Deer Creek Speedway. Chad qualified 12th out of 47 cars. Bad luck struck the team as we were involved in a wreck on the 6th lap of our heat race which ended their evening at Deer Creek. When the team returned home they found excessive damage to the 2006 Mastersbilt. They were forced to strip the car and make frame repairs. The car is back home now and they are starting to assemble the 2006 Mastersbilt so they can have it ready for the WDRL race at Albion, NE.

On July 16th the team traveled to Independence, IA for the first Indee Open. They started 4th in the heat race and finished 2nd to Denny Eckrich. This put them 10th for the start of the main event and they slowly worked their way to 3rd position by lap 18. A restart on lap 18 gave Chad Simpson Racing the opportunity to take the lead on lap 20 and lead the remainder of the 40 lap feature to take home the checkered flag.
